Healing Vine Harbor's mission is to reduce the number of single women living in shelters or unsafe situations, providing a pathway out of poverty to ensure self-sufficiency and equipping them to be productive, confident women and citizens of our city. We transform lives one woman at a time through independent living skills such as financial literacy, educational preparation, employability readiness, mentoring, and much more.
Our theme color, Purple, is symbolic of what we wish our young women to believe and represent - royalty, power and pride, not the stigma the word homeless carries as our citizens search for a place to lay their heads.
Please join us for our 5th Annual fundraiser, The Purple Wing Soir?e, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 6pm to 10pm. Come enjoy our amazing Silent Auction, delicious food by Howard and Howard, dancing and partying with a purpose with MC Olympia D, Old School 105.3, as we honor some special guests, and enjoy the sounds of DJ V and Flutepraise, a professional flautist and vocalist who perform Smooth Jazz, R & B, Latin, and Latin Jazz.
You are truly in for a treat and great company while supporting a great cause as we continue raising money towards our goal of opening a residential facility; A Safe Harbor for Women In Need.
This museum's collection of local artifacts gives a great sense of Charlotte's past, but kids are drawn more to the museum's "backyard." The American Freedom Bell, the largest bell at ground level in America, is a hit with kids, who love feeling its powerful vibrations with their hands. Wooded paths lead to the Hezekiah Alexander House, the oldest house in Mecklenburg County. Costumed docents provide a fascinating glimpse into eighteenth century life—kids love hearing about games and toys, but they are also squeamishly delighted to learn how hides were tanned with the animal's brains.
