Special Exhibit – “Rooted in Prayer: Biblical Truths for Everyday Living” Billy Graham Library
In our ever-changing world people are losing sight of the power of prayer. Billy Graham once said, “Remember that God helps us when we pray…This is a mystery we will never fully understand this side of Heaven but it also is a great comfort.” The Bible says in Philippians 4:4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always. … In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And by the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In this exhibit, you will get a closer look at teachings and examples of prayer from the Bible as well as Mr. Graham and the Billy Graham Crusade Team, and how prayer was and is the key component of BGEA’s ministry.

"Hold the Space" Wednesdays
Event Time 8:00 pm
We will continue to hold a brief, collective meditation each Wednesday night at 9:00 pm. Join in from home, or wherever you are. Let's plan on a minimum of 10 minutes and allow yourself to come and go as guided.Holding the space for heaven on earth is a much-needed gift of service at this time of planetary changes and crumbling social systems. I ask each of you to do a protection (the one I use is available if desired), and then come into meditation holding the knowing of the perfection of all things as they are. Please acknowledge those who have rsvp'd each week, as well as the Ascended Masters and Archangels who will be joining us in spirit. It would be lovely for everyone to take a minute to leave a comment on the meetup site about their experience each week so we can see what others are witnessing. The collective energy of this gathering will continue to grow as we work together each week and more are called to join us.I hope to "see" you all on Wednesday nights!Much love,Shusara

?I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.? ? Dr. Seuss, The Lorax We?re very lucky to have many voices speaking and acting to save our trees because the loss of canopy in Mecklenburg County is dramatic. Commercial and residential development, billboard carnage, and other pressures are threatening one of our important resources, our beautiful trees. Join us Wednesday, May 22, at 6:30 for ?1 Tree, Two Trees, Old Trees, New Trees?. The speakers are Dave Cable, Executive Director of TreesCharlotte, and Patrick George, Chair of The Queen?s Crown. TreesCharlotte is a public/private collaborative dedicated to planting 15,000 trees annually through volunteer efforts. The collaborative also educates Charlotte?s residents on the importance of the canopy and ways to plant and preserve trees. The Queen?s Crown promotes the recognition of the majesty of our area tree canopy. The goal is to have people feel as if they can take pride in ownership of, and responsibility for, the Queen?s Crown. The meeting starts off at 6:30 PM for pizza, refreshments and a chance to meet and socialize with other Sierra Club members and friends. The business meeting and program will begin at 7:00 PM. Participants should bring any games they are interested in playing and I encourage using the comments section to setup games and participants in advance. CAMS Roundtable -= SOUTH PARK =-
Event Time 6:00 pm
NEW DATE: We're going to test-run a couple Wednesday meetups and see how it goes. Though this is the Wednesday before Animazement so even I may not show up. We'll try this new day a few times and see if we like it better! The weather has suddenly turned warm and so long as it's not raining we'll be meeting downstairs from Qdoba in the courtyard! So if you don't see us in Qdoba please peek downstairs. Feel free to grab any food around the area, don't forget there is a sushi place just past Total Wine if you don't mind walking a little! This is just a general meet and greet. Come meet new members, hang out with old members, talk about anime/manga/video games/movies/cons/cosplay/whatever, make future plans for cosplay/cons/meetups, and generally make merry! This is a very casual get-together, just relax, talk, and have fun! If you're a new member: PLEASE come and find me (girl with bright red hair, you can't miss me) and say "hello" if I haven't already spotted you and introduced myself! I get caught up in conversations sometimes! Just forgive me in advance for being awful with names!!If you'd like to bring something neat or if you have an idea for a fun meetup: Please do! Someone brought Tarot cards once and it amused us for over an hour. Stuff like that is great to share with the group, even if it's just a cool art book you bought, we'd love to see it! If you have a cool idea for a meetup please bring it up! We'd love to discuss and plan fun new adventures! Notes: We generally hit up the Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop after we finish eating. (8pm or so) The staff loves us and gives us discounts/coupons regularly! But please keep a few things in mind especially while you're in the shop! 1) Don't crowd the counter if you're not in line. We've scared ahandfulof people out of that shop by mistake because they thought there was a 20 person line! OOPS. 2) Act appropriately around other customers. Some people hate crowds and we can't help them! But, especially if there are little ones around, try to watch your language and lewd gestures! They'll learn all that eventually, but let's try to make sure it's not from us! Also, always remember to put the tables back! We generally assimilate about 5 or 6 tables so we can all sit, at the end of the night please remember to put them back somewhat where you found them. I'm not 100% sure which business (if any) owns the tables, but many utilize them! So I don't want them to think badly of us or ask us to leave! Thank you! :)

Divorce Attorney Q&A session/Meet and Greet...............
Event Time 5:00 pm
By popular demand...we are holding our 2nd Divorce Attorney Q&A session. This meetup will be at Cru Wine Shop--Ballantyne. Address of 12206 Copper Way, Charlotte. I am also encouraging new members to come as this venue will be an easier place to meet and greet new members. It has been hard to properly welcome new members into the group at Brio as we are scattered about at Brio. Brio have been unwilling to reserve the patio seatings for our group; thus, making it difficult for our group to be together in one spot. This meetup is an extension of the Charlotte Divorce/Separated Support Group. The meetup group serves more as a "social club" with no agenda and no endorsement of any group/individual/company/products etc. But many members have requested guest speakers...predominantly in the areas of divorce attorneys...thus the reason for this Divorce Q&A session again. You may email me your questions in advanced or please write them down before the meetup. The attorney would like to sort and categorized the questions before the Q&A to maximize our time. Email the question to me...Susan Ryder...call me if have questions...803-233-6430.Cru will be offering our group appretizers and drink specials---$4 to $5 so inlined with Brio's specials. The meetup will start at 6pm but you are welcome to come earlier...I intent to be there at 5:30. The Attorney will take the floor at 7pm so I ask for you all to PLEASE come in time to place your food orders so there will be little distractions/interruption during the Q&A.I would of normally scheduled this meetup before our monthly 3rd Tuesday of the month regular meetup, but this date....May 22nd...was the only date that was not of a conflict for both Cru and our attorney guest speaker.I hope to schedule our future meetups BEFORE the regular 3rd Tuesday of the month meetups. Please give me your suggestions and comments on what the next guest speaker should be about...finance? dating?Thank-you and looking toward seeing or meeting everyone.

May JCBC Mixer.
Event Time 6:00 pm
Dear Members,The next meeting of the group will be on May 22nd at the Teen Room at the JCC from 7-8:15pm.The Dali Lama will definitely be in attendance. So we say, "Hello Dali, well Hello Dali, it's so nice to have you back in the JCC."For all first time attendees, we are granting you the title of Executive Vice President of the Jewish Community Business Circle of Charlotte. Although this title may not mean very much to your wife or even to your mistress, if you are going through mid-life crisis and are considering bringing a mistress into your life, then the title may be just the ticket to win her heart (especially if she is young and impressionable). Just imagine the glow on her face when she mentions to her best friends that the most recent man in her life is not only Jewish, but he is also an Executive Vice President of the Jewish Community Business Circle of Charlotte. And there will be no charge for this great honor.I know that many of you have seen the new movie on Jackie Robinson. He was truly a great American hero, and he deserves to be honored. But what about lesser lights, such as Cal Abrams of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Although Cal was just an average player, I think it's about time that we rewarded players who just made it by the width of a hair. As I recall, Cal was thrown out at the plate by Richie Ashburn of the Phillies, and the Dodgers never got into the World Series that year. But at least Cal tried and he never gave up. Therefore, we are going to hold a vote at the next meeting on whether we should create the Cal Abrams award for average performance. Not one word of this email has been approved by any member of the Executive Committee, the Stock Options Committee, the Auditing Committee or the Marshmallow Committee. Furthermore, this note has not been given the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. On the other hand, in a country that is rapidly sinking into mediocrity, the snow leopard has signed off on this email.Look forward to seeing yo'all at the next meeting.Shake and Bake Man,Shake and Bake.David, the snow leopard, Newman

May's topic: Immigration. A look at the youngest affected by the debate.
Event Time 5:30 pm
We will meet on Wednesday, May 22 at a new time, 6:30 pm. We are also trying a new location, the Starbucks on East Boulevard (Caribou closed in mid-April, sadly!)In April, members discussed talking about immigration at our next meeting. I have found an interesting piece published in September, 2011 by the Harvard Educational Review. Only 9 pages long, the article is a collection of short essays by the youngest affected by reform - those who came to the United States illegally, as children. The topic affects all of us, as deportation has legal and moral implications. When children are involved, we can (and, perhaps, we must) ask more questions about the nature of right and wrong. The article can be accessed by clicking "More" at the top of the group's homepage, and then clicking "Files." It is in PDF format. E-mail me if you cannot access the article. Can't wait to see you on May 22!Emily
