With a big band orchestra, singers and swing dancers, In The Mood is the 1940s musical revue that celebrates America’s Greatest Generation. In The Mood brings to life the Swing-era when all of America was listening and dancing to the same kind of music: Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskine Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, and other greats of the 1940s.
In The Mood features a company of 19 including the In the Mood Singers and Dancers with the sensational String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra. The show’s arrangements, costumes and choreography are as authentic as it gets! It’s a sentimental, romantic, nostalgic, jazzy and patriotic tribute to America’s Greatest Generation that’s of interest to swing fans of all ages. Come hear the music that moved the nation’s spirit and helped win a war!
Ovens Auditorium is owned and operated by the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) of the City of Charlotte. The facility seats more than 2,400 and is located at 2700 East Independence Boulevard.
Why Does the Performing Arts Center Present at Ovens Auditorium?
Access to Ovens Auditorium allows us to offer great shows at times when the Belk Theater is booked with other events. Ovens also has 358 more seats than the Belk Theater, so when we expect demand for a show to exceed the capacity of the Performing Arts Center, we schedule it at Ovens Auditorium, allowing more people to enjoy the show.
