Thursday March 19, 2015 thru Friday August 28, 2015 At 10:30 am
Learning shouldn't be confined to the School Year. Enroll your child into one of the many
Historic Latta Plantation Summer Camps offered yearly.
Two NEW camps are scheduled for 2015!
Historic Encounters: Ages 9-12 : July 7-10 (9am-3pm)
Boys and Girls will experience all aspects of History. Canoe
Horseback Riding, Hiking, Learning how to be a Civil War Soldier,
Learn how to Olde English Dance, Cook over a fire, Pan for Gold,
work with Farm Animals and so much more!
Historic Ambassadors: Ages 12-17: July 13-16 (9am-3pm)
Boys and Girls will learn a variety of in-depth hands on historical skills including:
Animal Husbandry, Soldier Life, Open Hearth Cooking, Fiber Making,
Woodworking, Leather Crafting, and much more! Kids will also have the ability to DRESS
in period attire and escort guardians through the Plantation on the Last day of camp.
This will highlight all of the information the children have learned
and allows them to practice public speaking skills. This camp is for
children who have an interest in theater, or reenacting.
This park's got it all. At the Historic Latta Plantation House, costumed re-enactors cook, embroider, and, to the delight of 8-year-old-boys, fight in a Civil War battle. The Carolina Raptor Center, where injured birds of prey are rehabilitated, appeals to future veterinarians and bird lovers. Kids love walking on the wooded nature trail, listening for bird calls, and looking eye-to-eye at eagles and hawks. What would make your kid's happiness complete? Did someone say "pony ride?" They've got horseback rides here, too, at the Latta Equestrian Center.
